A woman with a drill in hand assembles a cabinet and we react to this image as an unusual one. We have traditionally learned that cabinetmaking and other trades that "supposedly" require special skill and physical effort are for men only. These are basic ideas of patriarchy that instill fear in the face of the supposedly difficult of these tasks. Alba Montero, a cabinetmaker by profession for more than 20 years, knows what it is like to face that fear and overcome it. That is why she decided to start with DIY workshops with basic cabinetmaking for women and girls but she never imagined that so many would sign up for classes. Nor did he know the immediate impact it would have on their lives. One writes him thanking her because by being able to fix something simple like screwing the door stopper, she can sleep better, with more freshness and rest. Others, like Laura, are looking for a career change and see cabinetmaking as a solid option.
Sin Miedo is a series of short documentaries where we learn about the experience of different women in their transformation from feeling like a woman incapable of handling a power tool to an empowered woman capable of achieving whatever she wants. With these inspiring documentaries we want to dismantle patriarchy one screw at a time.

Una mujer con taladro en mano monta un gabinete y reaccionamos a esta imagen como una poco usual. Tradicionalmente hemos aprendido que la ebanistería y otros oficios que “supuestamente” requieren habilidad y esfuerzo físico especial son solo para hombres. Estas son ideas básicas del patriarcado que instigan miedo ante lo supuestamente difícil de estas tareas. Alba Montero, ebanista de profesión por más de 20 años, sabe lo que es enfrentar y sobrepasar ese miedo. Por eso decidió comenzar con talleres de bricolaje con ebanistería básica para mujeres y niñas pero nunca imaginó que tantas se apuntarán en las clases. Tampoco sabía el impacto inmediato que tendría en sus vidas. Una le escribe agradeciendo porque al poder arreglar algo simple como atornillar el retenedor de puerta(door stopper) puede dormir mejor, con más fresco y descansar. Otras, como Laura, buscan un cambio de carrera y ven la ebanistería como una opción sólida.
Sin Miedo es una serie de documentales cortos donde conocemos la experiencia de distintas mujeres en su transformación de sentirse como una mujer incapaz de manejar una herramienta eléctrica a una empoderada capaz de lograr lo que quiera. Con estos documentales inspiradores queremos desmantelar el patriarcado un tornillo a la vez.
